Phoenix’s 1.4 million and growing residents make it the largest state capital in the country.  Though life moves fast in Arizona’s biggest city, the area still has its Western roots at heart, with a hot desert climate that brings sunshine nearly every day. Residents have access to endless cultural and recreational resources, plus the prominent professional sports teams that play here.  One thing is for sure:  residents of Phoenix are always close to something fun.

Real estate in Phoenix is divided up into 15 urban villages that feature single-family homes of various sizes.  Each village has a community that plans development with the city council.  There are also several other regions and districts that have homes.  Residents have close proximity to a wide spread of amenities.  The abundance of schools in the city also makes it a great place for families to raise children.

Phoenix is a cultural center, and residents can take advantage of the many art galleries, historic restaurants, and more.  The Phoenix Art Museum has the most expansive collection in the Southwest and showcases modern works and international pieces.  Rotating exhibits come and go for even more art options.  Hungry residents can sample an award-winning world of cuisines at Heritage Square Dining.

Because of the gorgeous, year-round sunny days, Phoenix’s many recreational activities can be enjoyed outside.  Camelback Mountain, for instance, has two intense trails that are popular for their panoramic views of the Phoenix Mountains preserve.  The Desert Botanical Garden highlights 50 acres of local plants, and the stunning landscape forms the backdrop for seasonal events.  A spring concert series, Music in the Garden, brings local folk, blues, and jazz performers.  During summer nights, residents can participate in Flashlight Tours.  South Mountain Park and Preserve, located only a short drive away, has 50 miles of trails to explore above skyline and desert views.

Sports are big in Phoenix.  Residents can act as players on a golf course or as spectators at professional games.  Phoenix Golf has five 18-hole championship courses and three 9-hole courses located strategically in and around the city.  Fully stocked practice facilities and equipment rentals make a golfing trip extremely easy.  All four professional sports leagues have teams that play in or around the city.  The Phoenix Suns (NBA) and the Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) teams both shoot hoops at Talking Stick Resort Arena.  In the NFL, the Arizona Cardinals score touchdowns at the University of Phoenix Stadium, the venue that hosted the Super Bowl in 2008 and 2015.  The Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB) hit home runs at Chase Field, known for its swimming pool behind the outfield fence.  Hockey fans can see the Arizona Coyotes in action at Gila River Arena, located in Glendale.

Residents of Phoenix are served by a total of 33 school districts.  Over 200 elementary schools and 31 high schools fit into the area, offering families many choices for education.  Charter schools are also an option, with more than 100 in the city.  Higher education is represented by Arizona State University, which is spread out over five campuses.
